AgriFoodTech funding remains constrained in 2026, despite early signs of recovery

DigitalFoodLab’s 2026 funding report shows that AgriFoodTech startups raised $12.3B in 2025, down 27% from 2024, while encouraging signals in H1 2026 ($6.5B raised) remain too early to confirm a sustained recovery (see graph below).

The number of seed rounds in H1 2026 nearly matched the total for all of 2025, an encouraging signal after several years of decline (see graph below).

Food Science is gaining weight in AgriFoodTech investment in H1 2026, driven notably by growing interest in health-related topics, notably around GLP-1, and funding for novel ingredient startups entering or nearing commercialisation, particularly in alternative proteins.
